I had the best Mother's Day weekend ever and couldn't think of a better way to spend my first one! This little princess is the reason I get to celebrate being a mother.

We headed out Friday morning for our first family road trip/vacation with Kylee (well, my not being pregnant at least) on our way to Las Vegas. She was riding pretty comfortable the whole way and did awesome in the car.
Ben needed a break from driving so Kylee happily volunteered to take over!

We arrived at the Lowe's Lake Las Vegas resort around 4:00. It was AMAZING! We should have taken more pictures of the resort because it was incredible. Hands down the nicest place I have ever stayed. Kylee was so good and slept the whole night in the crib we had in the room.

That night we went for a swim in one of the pools. It was Kylee's first time swimming and she loved it!

5:30 the next morning we woke up to get ready for the big race!!! I had to feed Kylee, get her ready, get myself ready, make sure Ben had a couple bottles for later, and have all my stuff at the transition area before 6:15. I barely made it right as they said there was one minute until everyone needed to clear the area.

After leaving the transition area I made my way to the beach where the race started with the 1/2 mile swim. The weather couldn't have been better and the water was the perfect temperature. Ben met me there with Kylee in a carrier and the camera and video camera in hand and wished me luck.

Once I finished the swim, I got on my biking gear and took off for the 10 mile ride. I have to say the biking part was my favorite. The bike course we rode on was beautiful.

Last but not least was the 5k run at the end. Only the first 1/4 mile or so was paved, after that it was rolling hills of desert gravel. I'm glad I wasn't running it later in the day or it would have been so hot!! It was so neat rounding that last corner onto the paved street and hearing the people and music at the end. A new wave of energy hit and I sprinted to the finish line to see Ben and Kylee there cheering me on.
Ta Da!!! I finished my first triathlon! (No, I didn't need the ambulance, it was just a funny coincidence that I was infront of it in this picture) I can honestly say not once did I feel like giving up or that I regreted doing it. It was an awesome experience and I'm so glad I had Ben and Kylee there keeping me going. I ended up finishing in 2 hrs 31 min and change. Not first place, but definately not last! Next year I'm going to kick my this year's time in the butt!!!

Happy Mother's Day and congratulations! I can't believe you did that! You almost inspire me to do one...almost. haha.
ReplyDeleteYou are the first person I know that has actually done that! That's just so incredible. Your blog post totally made me emotional... too bad I can't blame prego hormones anymore ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy first Mother's Day!
Linny Linny Linny...I am amazed! You inspire me. I wished you lived closer, you could be my conscience when I roll back over in bed because I know no one is waiting for me at the gym...no will know right? I do it at least twice a week. Anywho, congrats! You are amazing.
