I can't believe my little baby is already a week old! Time has already flown by so fast. I should probably let everyone know how it went the day she was born.
I started having contractions Wednesday night around 11:00 pm. They weren't very strong, but were coming every 10 minutes or so. The next morning I woke up at 6:30 with my back killing me and contractions coming every 8 minutes or so. I started timing them and they were consistant, but the doctor said to wait to come in until they were every 5 minutes. Around noon they started spreading out more and getting weaker. Ben and I were pretty bummed. We decided to go for a walk on his lunch break and then I went to get a pedicure. Apparently the man at the salon has magic hands because I started having contractions around 2:30 every 5 minutes and they were getting stronger. I went to Ben's work to help him with some things and let him know about the contractions. Needless to say he was really excited, but we decided to wait and see if they stayed that way. They were still coming and lasting about 45 or 50 seconds each at 4:00 so we decided to head to the hospital. We checked in around 5:00 and happened to take their last open room. The nurse came and checked me and said I was about a 3 and 70%, but the contractions were coming every 5 minutes and lasting 1 1/2 minutes each so she said we'd more than likely be staying put. The contractions started getting pretty intense and I toughed it out until about 7:00 or so. Can I just say epidurals are heaven?! Once that kicked in I was just sitting back enjoying the BCS championship game on TV. Yep, couldn't miss that Ü. Family started arriving to wait for the baby. A doctor came in to check me for my doctor who wasn't there yet and said I was fully dialated and ready to go. Everyone couldn't believe how fast I was progressing especially without any pitocin. We did maybe 5 sets of practice pushes before she was crowning and told the doctor to come on down. When the doctor arrived we pushed for maybe 5 more sets and little Kylee was here at 11:08 pm. It was such an amazing experience and almost seemed too easy. We stayed at the hospital Friday and came home at 1:00 Saturday afternoon. The hospital stay and recovery went perfectly and now I'm sitting here looking at my beautiful baby girl. I have the most amazing husband in the entire world and he is an even better daddy. I am so blessed to have them in my life and can't wait for every little moment to come. Life couldn't be better!!
It's amazing isn't it! I can remember being there like it was yesterday. Then before you know it, you have a bouncing 4 month old that is so full of personality and spunk. Just when you think you can't love your baby anymore you prove yourself wrong by increasing your love 10 fold. It's the most incredible thing to look at your baby and think, "You don't look a thing like me, but there isn't a thing in this world that could make me more happy because you are mine."
ReplyDeletePICTURES...WE WANT MORE PICTURES!!! You are one lucky lady. I was in labor for 22 hours and 6 of those hours were without an epidural (I was too chicken for the needle...makes me scared just thinking about it) just to end up having a c-section, sucky! I can't believe she is here. You are going to love every minute of your life from now on. Children are the best thing on earth. I can't believe my baby is 10 months old already. Prepare yourself, it goes by fast. Enjoy every minute (even when she poops and throws up everywhere).
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely precious friend! I am so glad I got to come by and meet your little bundle of joy. :-)
