Ben's Birthday Cake

I had so much fun making Ben's birthday cake. We haven't learned about fondant in my cake class yet, but I really wanted to try one. I found a recipe for home made marshmallow fondant and decided to give it a go! It turned out pretty good!

First I made the cake, frosted it with buttercream, and then covered it in a layer of fondant. Next I colored some fondant and rolled it out for the designs.

The stripes went on first.

Then the circles.

Then last was the border.

Ta Da!!!

Not too shabby for my first one!! I'm really excited because I'm starting a cake business in the next couple weeks. I'm going to be decorating like crazy to get some pictures for a portfolio and a website going. If you'd like a cake let me know!!
