Schofield Triathlon

Last weekend I did my second triathlon so far. It was so much fun! It was up at Schofield Reservior and my family and I made a little weekend trip out of it. We decided to stay at a hotel in Springville since it wasn't too far of a drive from the race start. Next time we'll camp at the campground right at the venue though.
We got all loaded up and headed out Friday afternoon.

Ky was all set in the back with her sippy and DVD player.
Even though she faded pretty quickly on the way there with it being nap time and all. We went and picked up my wetsuit from the rental store and had a fun night swimming at the hotel and hanging out in the room.

The morning of the race we got to the lake and I got all my stuff set up.

This was the first time I wore a wetsuit and I must say I loved it! It really did make the swim much easier since I was more boyant. Unfortunately, someone decided they wanted to take my wetsuit from the transition area while I was running. I'm going to have to buy it since I was renting it which is a bummer.

Ky and Ben were the best cheerleaders ever! Any woman Ky saw with a wetsuit and a pink swim cap (which there were a ton of), she'd wave and yell "Mommy! Doh, Mommy!"

The swim start.

Just getting done with the swim and getting ready to hop on the bike.

The bike went really well until when I was a mile from being done and my pedal FELL OFF! It was so crazy, I was having a hard time getting it back on, but a man who was watching the race came over with plyers and helped me get it back on. I lost 10 minutes doing it, but it stayed on to the finish.
Here I am coming in to the finish line!!

I had so much fun and even with the few hiccups, the race was a blast!
Ky even helped me with my post-race goodies.

She was so good and after the long day just couldn't stay awake any longer.

  2. Awesome job, Lindsay!! You are amazing! I can't believe your pedal fell off and that someone stole your wetsuit...crazy. I'm doing my first tri in a month and I'm pretty nervous...but excited, too. :) I'm wondering if I should rent a wetsuit. Are they very expensive? I've heard from a few people that it makes a big difference to wear one. Anyway, good job!
